Offensive collaborations in the Futsal youth sector

Offensive collaborations in the Futsal youth sector…nhe team sport the theme of collaborations is a central aspect that finds its own specific development in the youth categories. Collaborations today form the basis for creating the gaming system of tomorrow, it determines its distinctive features by contrasting itself with a “classic” game made up of schematic and predetermined plays.

Offensive collaborations in Futsal's youth academy range from early games to 2 until the game a 4 passing through all game situations of superiority / inferiority. In general, observing any team, the quality of the results increases with the increase in the level of cooperation of individuals.

The level of integration of the individuals clearly favors the development of the game in a manner shared towards real team play.

The attack game is the sum of the single collaborations. How many more players are involved in the attacking game, the greater the potential collaborations to be developed, and the effectiveness of the action itself will certainly be greater.

So, every player on the playing field must be capable of collaborate with other companions and this must take place within one delimited space in respect of right times.

Space, weather, autonomy, cooperation O cooperation they constitute the postulates of modern team play and basic principles that need no demonstration, we can accept them because we know how to be useful regardless!

Space e Weather they are so fundamental for the development of collaborations that in the game of Basketball, coach Ettore Messina talks about space / time advantage (bibliographic note for the concepts of timing and spacing see Ettore Messina “men and other planets” chapter: construction, time and space):

  • time advantage or Timing that we can render better as playing time or playing pace, is pursued by eliminating as much as possible the dead time from the game by teaching the players to reduce the time between control and transmission of the ball and receiving, always, the ball in motion and never stationary;
  • space advantage o Spacing which we can also render as spacing, it is pursued by putting the right distance between the attackers in order to make it difficult for a defender to mark two attackers at the same time.

As for Timing, I think we can add little, it will be worth remembering how mastering the "fundamentals" of the game to perfection is a necessary and essential condition. Oriented control, ball transmission, guiding and handling the ball with the sole, the throw, etc. they must be trained, corrected and improved daily.

As for Spacing, however, it will be appropriate to consider the importance that the concept of space and its correct occupation has today for all team sports. Think in particular of Calcio a 11 and positional play. If Ettore Messina's lesson is certainly valid: "... make it impossible for a defender to mark two forwards ..." we can add that in order to achieve this goal, fundamental elements of the game of Futsal must be taken into consideration:

  • the position of the ball
  • the distribution of teammates
  • the deployment of the opponents

With the right Rhythm and correct Spacing you can create a benefit, and collaborations tend by their nature to create an advantage, but it is not enough to create an advantage, this is actually just the beginning. What we should ask our players is:

  • create an advantage, or a situation of space / time superiority;
  • recognize an advantage, often the boys of the youth sector are not able to read and recognize an advantageous situation that is favorable to them and to the team;
  • to maintain an advantage, that is to work on the advantage created together with teammates;
  • concretize an advantage, get to create a dangerous action for the opponent with a shot or a penetration ball and chain;

How can we accomplish this "Creative process"?

First of all by planning our work through a correct didactic progression by bringing the first collaborations back to simple 1×1 until you get to 4×4, with and without the ball, passing through situations also of imbalance with the classics 2×1 e 3×2.

An oversimplification may appear, actually work on 1×1 plays a strategic role in the development of more complex collaborations.

The mastery of 1×1 allows us to:

  • refine the technical skills and fundamentals of the individual
  • he invites and encourages the young player to familiarize himself with a quality that is increasingly being lost: you learn to challenge your direct opponent, get over it and beat it.

Even for illustrious Futsal coaches such as Jesus Candelas the primary objective in the youth categories is to develop 1X1. See article on: Blog Jesus Candelas: 1× 1 in positional play https://jesuscandelas.wordpress.com/2015/03/08/1×1-in-the-position-game /

The training methodology that we privilege here and that we want to suggest involves the creation and making available to young players not predefined solutions and plays, rather the creation of a "system of choices“He must train himself to create, maintain and realize an advantage.

Give a few but precise rules, clear and above all understandable indications is fundamental, let's not forget that we are in the youth sector and therefore we are talking about categories such as U15, U17, U19.

We are dealing with complex topics to propose to young children, avoid going too far into tactics and complex game situations for too young children who are instead more likely to assimilate basic concepts such as individual technique acquired in football school and which in this age group can refine or improve but above all develop in perspective of the specificity required by the Futsal discipline.

Certainly with the increase in collaborations, we are asked to define the number of players involved, always respecting the best possible execution of the fundamentals, the forms of development of the collaborations that can be:

  • unmarking
  • dribbling
  • cuts
  • blocks and pick & roll

When we talk about these and other game actions, it is immediately understood by the reader and our young players that these actions and all collaborations must be developed with and without the ball. Players can be precise in this area, indeed they must, with and without the ball.

So working on offensive collaborations in the Futsal youth sector means working on the fundamentals for better 1×1 create and realize an advantage through cuts, against movements, with and without the ball giving few but clear indications and above all rules that leave freedom of choice to young players.

We will soon return to the topic of collaborations with some practical examples and specific exercises for Futsal, for this I would like to point out some interesting videos on You Tube for training activities for young players from Canale You Tube di Carlos Cabezas two interesting videos:
