Train 4-0 Under category 17 (Sub 17)

Train on 4-0 in the Under category 17 (Sub 17) often it simply means to start at 4-0 young players especially when they come from lower categories or from other teams where a different form has been adopted.

There is however the possibility to always do so that the players are able to perform some essential movements such as with sufficient mastery: change of direction, control oriented, come on and go, go and come back, back door cuts and so on.

If these actions just described are not part of the technical baggage of young players in the U17 category, they must be absolutely trained and we are faced with a group with shortcomings, however, to be filled considering the age of the athletes and the competitive level of their championship.

The exercise proposed in the video is performed by a group with sufficiently developed and trained technical qualities in the previous categories with a fluidity of ball circulation that can also express some appreciable technical gestures such as the passage of the sole.

The exercise is only a first step and does not include any combination for the net conclusion that will be the subject of a subsequent step.

The goal is to improve possession and construction of the game with a horizontal ball circulation made mainly with the jump pass (step jumping a player), each ball transmission necessarily corresponds to the simultaneous movement of all the other players, favoring the development of the game without the ball becoming the central element of the whole exercise.

Therefore the principles of:

  • transmission from center to side “far” with the jum pass
  • transmission from center to side “close” with the passage of sole
  • movement without ball and re-occupation of spaces with each transmission

Watch the video and then let's add some more reflection.

The players are given ample freedom of choice of play, consequently the reaction to play of those not in possession of the ball must always be weighted according to the type of transmission that triggers alternative movements.

This free approach is a personal didactic choice that in my opinion increases the degree of involvement of the players who feel more and more free to express themselves through a range of choices and more and more masters of the movement as repetitions increase.

Use it also when starting the training session, or activation before the races.
